Accessibility Strategy & Training - Cork CoCo |
|
Frontend and Cork County Council are working together to ensure that the Cork CoCo website is accessible and easy to use for all. Initially Frontend were asked to conduct an accessibility review of the site. Following this we conducted user testing with participants that had a range of disabilities and used a range of assisitive technologies. The user tests provided extensive insight in how the site was performing with regard to real world accessibility and resulted in a rethink of their entire web strategy. Frontend worked with Cork County Council on a range of site revisions and staff training exercises. Key to the success of this project was managing the distributed authoring process. We developed an easy to follow quality control procedure for all published web content – making it easier to maintain accessibility compliance. We also worked to re-align the content and services on the site with the needs of the council’s customers using a range of user centred design techniques. The result was the achievement of the prestigious Excellence Through Accessibility (ETA) award in 2007. The website can be viewed at www.corkcoco.ie |
