Vodafone is the largest network operator in ireland. Within the global Vodafone Group, the Ireland has the highest WAP usage per customer. The reason for Vodafone’s success is attributed to the user-centred structure of their WAP menus. Shortly after WAP services became available , Vodafone approached Frontend to conduct user research, and propose an optimised information architecture. We conducted user interviews with target customer groups and carried out an analysis on the menu options. Following the interviews we constructed 4 user personas (Louise the Business User, David the Night Reveller, Michael the Holiday Guy and Ann the Infromation Junkie). We devised a series typical task scenarios for each user type and set about constructing the most efficient interaction model. Once the early designs were refined we constructed prototypes and test the designs with real customers. The final deliverable was a detailed set of guidelines outlining how the menus should be organised, naming conventions, and future growth and scalability option |
Testimonials
Without using the skills of Frontend we could not have met our timescales and still produce such an intuitive interface for our product. Their particular skills in designing for maximum usability - critical to any browser interface - were invaluable. We will continue to work with Frontend on future projects and have even adopted some of their development cycle processes in-house.
